[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Until just a few decades ago, almost everything in Nepal was transported by professional porters. Even today, it's the primary 'modus transportandi' for goods and even passengers...

ISO at 200 and focal length at 35.0 mm.

hello Caleb,
incredible what one human being can lift and carry, sometime I feel the laws of gravity do not apply to some people, mostly old women in the countryside (or may be they've learned how to bend these laws?). excellent photo to illustrate that, I like a lot how you have caught the most intense moment of concentration. as usual in your photos, impeccable quality.

with kind regards,
Kristine

Great shot Caleb - I like how you caught him just as he tensed himself to lift the load from the step.
Your tight framing works well too. Nicely done.

Cheers,
Ben

Wow, this is an amazing photograph Caleb. The moment of capture is just perfect right before he is about to lift it. It leaves us wondering if he will actually be able to do it (I'm sure he did). Interesting how perfectly symmetrical this photo is as well. Very Nat Geo.

Ryan

Hello Caleb
Your decision to show just the man and his load in a simple, symmetrical, composition has made this a very successful
study in concentration, strength and balance.
Excellent - TFS
Best wishes...Maggie

Hi C,

Catching a man with such a load is one thing, but being able to frame it in forcing position and right in front of you was an excellent photo opportunity you didn't missed.

I've begin to read about Nepal and the Sherpa, as not being only porters but also an ethnic group in the Himalayas. These people don't suffer to the lack of oxygen and their strength is not diminished. Excellent image of a "tour de force"...

I hope everything is fine with you Cal...

A.

Bonsoir,
Belle photo de cet homme et de sa charge, que d' efforts et de difficultés il va avoir pour transporter une charge pareille, aussi encombrante et sans doute lorde, avec le centre de gravité très haut.

Amitiés Thomas

hej Caleb,
you found the true superman, his concentration, his dress code and his legs talks for it self.
Anders

hello Caleb,

Indeed, it is still very common to see them. they carried our backpacks during the trekking, and on the same shoes !!!! we had expensive boots and all the equipment and they walked like this !!! they are unbelievable!! great photo, i never saw it in this size !
greetings, inn

Hi Caleb,
I am sure that this guy could definately compete in a weight lifting competition. You caught him at a moment of concentration, and have fitted him and his heavy cargo perfectly into the frame. A great shot!

Wanda

Hello Caleb
Great capture,
the man's position under the load and his expression capture perfectly the difficulty of his daily life.
Very well done

Hi Caleb,
That's just crazy! Is that a supernaturel man ?
I saw an emission on TV about the sherpa and I was really impressed...
Your framing is perfect!

Quelle puissance et quelle attitude
je suis impressionné par cet homme et son courage
Bravo pour cette réaliation

Other than it looking like the "Michellin Man" is going to take a giant poop on this mans head ... this is a great picture. You certainly know how to capture a moment, sir. Best regards, TW

Bonjour Caleb
The Nepalese coolies are really amazing! I do remember seeing them transporting apple boxes weighing up to 80 kgs(and maybe more). This image shows very well the capacity of this strong man in carrying heavy loads.
Well done
Marilyn

Caleb,
Having just returned from Nepal, I was always amazed at the amount these porters could carry. You caught the moment perfectly.

Great subject matter, depiction the life of a porter. I wonder what's the weight he lifts - maybe 60-70 kg...

Regards,

Asparuh
