In Kathmandu, there seems to be special places where, in the late afternoon, elderly gentlemen gather to chat and relax. This place, near the Tamil area, is an ancient market hall, with elaborately carved timber and places where the gentlemen can sit in the shade.Most of these older men, still wear the Nepali cap and the traditional dress and they discuss politics or local affairs until the fading light sends them home.I suspect that before television and radio all our forefathers found places to gather and exchange the news of the day.In Asia such places are still part of a way of life.

When I watch their eyes and their expression (especially the first and second) I have the impression that you have to be the subject of their discussion after your photo.

Hello kevin. Ah, the old gentlemen. A large topic for photographers. Everywhere in the world they sit together and spend the day with plays, discussions etc. The clothes of the old gentlemen is nationaltypical (particularly the head coverage). A nice photo which reminds me of daily life in Nepal in a very friendly and relaxing way...thanks for bringing this up again, i have good memories on that trip.

Hi Kevin,
A funny line up of Nepali elders, all with the traditional 'topi'. They all form a pleasant diagonal in the frame. Some more sharpening also possible..
