Hahahaa... I laugh a lot after reading your notes and it's really surprise for me.

But I must tell your photo is an enviable one with its artistic graphics, especially with its red part and yellow cord on their hand. Shadows and white borders are really bonus of today. Wonderful. Thanks for the link to my photo too.

This is very impressive and interesting to learn that there are still places where they do their commercial advertisement right at the spot under the sun! yes, most are painted or painted paper onto the board in the workshop before they erect into that area they want to be!
looks like the two guys will need a bit of time to finish such a reasonable size of the poster!

Hey Jose,

Its a great scene but I think you could have done this a little better by cropping out the sky and grass surrounding the billboard. It would have provided a great minimal image, with a lot more impact I feel.

Hi Jose,
A nice compo, with eye-catching colors. The red of the board and the blue of the sky, complementary, make it visually strong, before anything else. Then, there are the two guys at work, the shadows of the electric wire and the man on the ladder. Well done!

Acho que se tivesses só o poster vermelho e branco com os homens um em cada lado, terias aumentado o impacto visual da imagem e também terias acrescentado um grande ponto de interrogação sobre o que eles estavam a fazer. Mas, mesmo assim é uma foto muito curiosa que nos leva a pensar o que poderá ter saído daquelas linhas iniciais.

PS. Depois de escrever a minha nota, reparei que o "vapours" escreveu qualquer coisa semelhante. Enfim, somos dois a ter a mesma opinião.

Oi José!
Um flagrante bem interessante este, capturando a dupla em plena atividade. O painel vermelho não poderia ser melhor, sem propagandas, sem sentido. O vermelho é sempre atrativo! Gosto ainda do grafismo. Belo registro, com ótimo manejo de câmera.

Olá José,
so 14 years later you still remember the situation as you tell us in your note. That is not usual. Unusual capture of Nepal and for sure just a usual and daily life capture in any country with advertisement, but strange by the life performance of creating it instead of using a print. But there must be some reasons to do so, maybe needed exclusivity or costs or what else. I like the large red with the blue behind, the good texture of the paper and the life by the two. Great scan my dear.

Imagem muito interessante, uma idéia muito boa. A qualidade, como de costume, ótima, com nitidez e cores impecáveis. Incrível trabalho com o scanner - perfeição!
Sempre tive curiosidade de ver como eles instalam estas publicidades, sempre quando vejo já estão prontas ;-) Como sugeriram António e "Vapours", fiz um WS, espero que não se incomode. Fiquei curiosa de ver o resultado que daria...

cette scene aurait pu être prise n'importe ou, mais l'écriture dans le coin droit nous indique clairement que nous sommes au Nepal.
j'aime bien les ombres projetées sur la toile et les splendides couleurs exhalées par une bonne lumière.

i believe that you are a little bit jealous because of the last post of Parbo.These hand made advertisements are belong to the past like this reddish one,with the men trying to paint something on it.I like the contrasted colors as the disorderliness of the environment.Nice daily snapshot from the '90s.

Interesting composition to show local people prepare their advertisment board under the hot sunlight, I think this method may be more cheaper than printing panels, just like back to old age when people always painting on the walls but now just the materials are different, thanks for sharing a lively shoot with two working painters.

Estes outdoors devem ser cada vez mais uma raridade. Boa foto esta! Tecnicamente acho que deve ficar melhor com o cropping mas esta versão dá uma ideia bem melhor. Mais uma vez conseguiste um bom trabalho com o scanner, a qualidade está muito boa.

ficou muito boa esta, não só pelas formas e cores fortes mas pela inclusão do s homens que fazem um belo diálogo de gestos que dão toda uma graça à imagem, até mesma a sombra do poste de luz é bonito aqui. bom trabalho, parabéns

Espectacular, José. Não só é um assunto interessante (à mão!!!em cima de escadotes que não parecem nada estáveis!) como o efeito gráfico é fabuloso. Talvez ainda mais por estar no início da pintura. Nas miniaturas até me pareceu uma foto da Festa do Avante :))) E prefiro assim com mais contexto e com o azul do céu a fazer uma moldura contrastante. Percebo a atracção do corte e eu próprio tentaria o mesmo provavelmente, mas depois voltava atrás. Além disso ficou cortada a sombra dos pés do pintor da direita que é um pormenor imperdível.

Pretext or excuse, whatever motivated you, it is worth posting this engaging shot (and 55 people have agreed before me). The colors and composition are very good. I might have tried one slight post-processing tactic, removing the diagonal dark line across the top. In any event, it is a very good photo.

Que situação interessante pintarem um anuncio a mão nunca me tal passou pela cabeça aquilo que aprendemos pelo mundo , em questão ao Ws eu cortava pela barra branca em volta do cartaz em baixo deixava a barra grande , mas tambem gosto de ver assim com o azul a volta faz um bonito contraste com o azul , parabéns!!!

Oldie or not, it is a picture you should save carefully in your archive and make duplicates, because it is the kind of picture you keep for a book some day. I am amazed about the fact that they present just a red screen, and nothing else, propbably they will add some more material later on.

Another framing (like the WS) is tempting, but I think the red, white and blue is so evident and succinct that your choice is the right one in this situation.
I think it is not so bad you missed the end result. I think this was the best artistic moment.

Oh yes, I remember so well this kind of scenes and have taken some photos in the 90s too (slides, somewhere deep inside boxes)... Very typical and so interesting to observe... The way they prepare the whole frame, with a string to get it straight it seems... I love it, such a nice scene - and by the way, a good scan too !
