| Parbati's mother places a tika of rice, ochre color, and cream on her forehead. Dassain is the biggest and happiest fetival of the yeqr in Nepal. Everyone tries to make it back to their family home. The Hindu Goddess Kali has slain evil demons who would steal light. Now a snew year of crops can grow. Rice has been started inside the homes in a dark place. Now hair and ears will will carry sprigs of rice to celebrate the next years crops. Tall swings appear everywhere for a few days, good food, new clothes, and holy blessings for all!!!! I love Dassain!!!! |
