Photographer’s Note
The Purple Sunbird, Cinnyris asiaticus, is a sunbird. The sunbirds are a group of very small Old World passerine birds which feed largely on nectar, although they will also take insects, especially when feeding young. Flight is fast and direct on their short wings. Most species can take nectar by hovering like a hummingbird, but usually perch to feed most of the time.
Purple Sunbird is an abundant resident breeder across tropical southern Asia from the Persian Gulf to Southeast Asia. One to three eggs are laid in a suspended nest in a tree.
Purple Sunbirds are tiny, only 10cm long. They have medium-length thin down-curved bills and brush-tipped tubular tongues, both adaptations to their nectar feeding.

Hello Zahoor.
Another ornithological masterpiece! You have become a specialist in these superb bird shots. Again, with your fast shutter speed, you have captured the bird with perfect timing and sharpness. Truly amazing and very artistic. Have you ever considered joining Trek Lens? There is a wider acceptance and love of bird photos on that site. But it is good to see some nature shots like this on TE also. Very good work and interesting note.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Zahoor,
What a splendid shot, so well captured at the perfect moment. The yellow and green colours of the background blend well with the foreground colours of the plant and bird, and also adding to the sunny feeling.

Great photo, Zahoor!
The framing here is perfect, capturing just enough of the plant overhead to give the viewer an idea of what the bird is holding on to without taking attention away from the subject itself. Kudos for the perfect timing as well: another moment and this wonderful moment may have been missed! The soft background perfectly compliments the subject and foreground (lovely yellows and greens, by the way) and provides a very attractive feature in itself. Sharpness could be a little better, but that is only a minor point that does not take away from the beauty of the overall presentation. Well done and thanks for sharing!
