In May 1986 I was sent to Pakistan to report on the (as always) tense and confusing political situation. While I was staying in Islamabad I was invited by some Swedish diplomats to spend a weekend with them going up the Swat valley in the north.
The scenic Swat valley reminded me much of Afghanistan. In recent months it has hit the headlines around the world with reports of heavy fighting between security forces and a Taliban-style militia. In 1986 however, as far as I could tell, it was very quiet.

Hello Gert! Wonderful landscape. Nice colors. Very nice lightness. Good composition. Very nice take. Good luck!
Hej Gert,
Really a beautiful landscape and a very beautiful photo. The converging lines of the riverside and the mountaintops are very good. Colours are very good too. Nice to see yet another country in your list...

Hi Gert, great composition, with the diagonal lines of the hill tops converging with the river. This slide seems to have retained its colour quite well too, good scan. Cheers, Steve

Hej Gert
Every valley has there own war and every war resulting in an other one, there's a lot of why? about those remarkably beautiful countrys. I was reading the "kite runner" by Khaled Hosseini and that gave at least me a glimpse of the complexity in the region.
the image shows what could be the heaven on earth the Shangri-La. and it's close to say it's the other way around.
