[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
While going up the Swat valley of northern Pakistan in May 1986 I was held up for an hour or so by a truck that had overturned and offloaded its cargo of bricks all over the road. Some men from the nearest village arrived to clear the road. When they had finally finished, and managed to get the truck back on its wheels, someone brought out a gun and fired merrily a few rounds in the air.
These days, sadly, people are shooting at each other in the Swat valley, once known as the "Switzerland of Pakistan", where a mini-war has been going on since last year.
This picture was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
In the workshop you can see the same scene from further away.

I love the colours and the 'hovering' brick is a great catch. The workshop works well at putting the fallen lorry in perspective. As you say it's a shame the guns are used less peacefully nowdays.

Hej Gert,
A picture full of action and hard labour. An interesting photo, I kind of like the composition, particularly the man leaning at the same angle as the mountain slope.

Hi Gert!

Excellent daily life scene, excellent example of photojournalism, really a documentary photo! Great framing and composition, excellent light managment in harsh light conditions! Congratulations!

Hi Gert! excellent shot!It is a picture of persons that works, But here it has very big interest because he is something that it seldom sees in the [TE]. I liked the moment and the perfection of imprinting even if it is picture of scene reportage

Hi,
Excellent jurnalistic composition, Gert. The lights are so bright during that day, I could see their expressions. Good exposure, too.
Best wishes,
Bima

Hej Gert,
I would believe even if it was said that this photo was taken this year. It is a precious image that came through the time.
I like this Kodachrome tonality that has a green tint and strong contrast.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hej Gert,
excellent photo depicting daily life and work! the composition is just great! I like the flying brick showing ACTION ;)
as for the quality of the scanned photo, I think it's also very good. In my humble opinion, the colours, depth and shadows seem so true to life that this image is much better than a modern digital photo in which you sometimes can't see the forest behind the trees... I hope you see what I mean.
good luck,
Elena

Hello Gert,

I really like the retro feel of this shot. Its amazing, Although the sight of an overturned truck is not extraordinary in Pakistan, the Pakistani's havent really gotten rid of the good old bedford trucks.

The 'flying brick' is excellently captured.

Regards
Kamran

Hello Gert
A great action shot with one brick mid-flight. Very sharp and good colours for a scan. The workshop further explains the scene. TFS, Marlene
