Kalash woman
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Initiall camera shy, and who wouldn't be, the colourful Kalash women were ok about being photographed after a few days. I was there in spring, so their main activity was weeding the small fields which had been sown earlier. I took this shot whilst they were resting from this back breaking work.
The Kalash are a small non-muslim tribal group living in a handful of isolated valleys in Northern Pakistan, very close to the Afganistan border. They practice ancestor worship. Their religion is being gradually eroded by presure from the domination of Islam in Pakistan. |

beautiful woman, great colors. the picture is a bit too unsharp, but who cares, i love seeing images from pakistan, a country that to me still is very exotic, and definitely a place i will go some day. good note.
Hi Stephen,
Great job. Very sharp and colorful portrait & daily life shot.
Congratulations,
Jay.
Hi Steve, your photos of Kalash people fascinate me because I have always dreamed of going to that part of Pakistan. Fantastic portrait and interesting note, TFS,
Cath.
(NB : I'll take it as a favorite despite the fact that I would have prefered to see the face with more light, but I know that it is very difficult to ask shy people to move much before taking their photos , of course)
