This is another shot of Mt. Tupopdan (6106m) taken at the sunset with new and old suspension Husaini Bridge in foreground.

Probably one of the more instantly recognisable pictures you'll see in books and promotional pictures of Pakistan is of the numerous suspension bridges that cross the rivers in and around Northern Pakistan. And in saying that, one of the more famous day treks around the region is known as the Two Bridges trek which as the name suggests sees you crossing two bridges on a five hour trek in the area surrounding Passu and the neighboring villages before ending at Borit Lake. The trek itself is probably more of a pleasant stroll than a strenuous effort but the setting and the scenery is some of the best I've seen so far. Apart from crossing the two bridges you meander through farming villages, traverse steep ravines, cross potato and pumpkin fields as the farmers wave hello and end the day by enjoying a nice cold drink by an alpine lake.

I have used Grad.ND filter to balance the light.

Lucie

PS: As one of you asked - neutral density filter or ND filter is a "grey" filter. An ideal neutral density filter reduces light of all wavelengths or colors equally. The purpose of standard photographic neutral density filters is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture or exposure time, allowing for more control, particularly in extreme circumstances.

A graduated ND filter is similar except the intensity varies across the surface of the filter. This is useful when one region of the image is bright and the rest is not, as in a picture of a sunset.

Hello Lucie,
Fascinating landscape that represents the wildness of the area very well. I like the composition with the bridge emerging from the corner. Neutral grad filter has held detail in the foreground though you could use a more powerful oen it seems. Looking forward to seeing more of your images from Pakistan. Regards,
Hakan

Again you have some fantastic light, which shows the rugged mountains perfectly. The old bridge is quite something, and I was worried until I saw the new bridge beside it. Beautiful shot, and interesting note too. When I see this my feet start to get very itchy!

Hi Lucie,
One of your last photos was a scene from Lord of the Rings, and now you have a scene from Indiana Jones. That suspension bridge looks absolutely terrifying. I love this composition though, with the only light hitting those distant mountains. They really stand out nicely, and I love how the warm colors on the mountains contrast with the cool colors of the river. Simply awesome.
Take care,
Ryan

Hello Lucie,

Bravo !

A+

Hi Lucie,

This is a magical landscape and it's also a wonderful photo you have shared with us. The colours are sensational - a good use of the filter to bring out the detail in the lake and the dark cliffs. Excellent composition with those precarious looking bridges leading you into the frame.

A really good note to accompany the photo too. Well done, and have a nice weekend.

Regards,

Rich

You have some wonderful images in your gallery from a wide range of locations.
On this one the light on the mountains is the key to the success of the image. The blue tones you have captured are good. Good choice of title as even the new bridge looks pretty scary. Well done
Kath

Hello Lucie,
Wonderful shot with great POV and composition. Colors, lights on the mountains in the background are so impressive and excellent.
TFS,
Have a nice day.

Hi Lucie, A very beautifully composed photo with the old broken bridge coming out from the bottom left, the mixture of different light is excellent, making the brighter mountains a wonderful backdrop, a very well formed shot, kind regards Wilson.

Lucie,
Another awesome shot from Pakistan. In fact, I like this one even better! Fantastic light and depth of colour. I'm guessing - hoping really - that this is not one of the bridges you crossed!
Regards
Colin

Hi Lucie,

Your pictures I have always maintained are beyound any criticism. I watc them for pure pleasure.....this is again an awsome picture....perfect to the core...it communicates...what u want to communicate.
great shot.

Hi there Lucie. Just stumbled on this one, and glad I did. Thanks for your explanation of the ND filter as well as the notes about the bridges. I can see how useful the ND was in this photo, giving that gentle light on the mountains without putting the river into total darkness. The bridge itself is more than scary, with those pieces hanging loose, making it useless. The mountain itself is stupendous. Marvellous shot.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Lucie
I don't think I am qualified enough to critique your picture...it's beyond that..a sheer beauty! I am a novice with filters, but amazing balancing of the light with the dark FG & the brilliantly lit mountains in the BG. But for once it's the dark FG, which attracts my attention more, thanks to the perilous bridge, as it appears. Superb work!
With Regards
Angshu
