This scan of an old photo from a slide has been improved a bit, "with a little help from a friend", who had also improved the photo of my horseman in west China, posted not long ago... Many thanks to him, whose advice is always valuable ! My first version can be seen in the workshop.

This was a delicate photo to take ; the persons here were unaware that I took the photo because I was mainly aiming at the interesting facades above their heads, sometimes shooting fast at what happened below...

A passer-by who had nothing else to do arrived behind me and told me that I had been shooting at the women in burqa which was forbidden according to him, but I protested that I was mostly interested in the architecture of the houses ; he seemed satisfied with my reply...

Rarely do I have to half-lie like that, but I could not resist in that case... Had I asked for the permission to shoot, some persons would have agreed and taken unnatural poses, while others would have refused and sent me away.

Peshawar is a great city for its many bazaars, some covered, others in the streets in the open. One or two days are not enough to discover the whole city.

Salut Cath,
Une vue bien contrastée sur ce bazar des ustensiles de cuisine et autres étameurs. L'activité et l'atmosphère de cette rue sont bien retransmises.... jolies couleurs et netteté agréables.

There a SAMAWAR cought my eye, those were of Russian ZAR age and there one man came collected all those SAMAWARS, it is a good eye catching shot.

Very good shot...well done..But I am giving you a suggestion about composition..if you crop upper portion aupto the tin roof it may be better composed shot..just market and the human figure..

Quite a colormood by the facades contrasting the colorful dresses with nice textured foldings while all the shiny salesware pops out of the dark.

Une vue intéressante de ces bazars ou seules des femmes(qui me semblent d'ailleurs des Afghanes pour la plupart?) Le contraste et les couleurs rendent bien et on voit bien les différentes textures et couleurs des différents métaux utilisés.

C'est très sympa et très graphique : les murs sur le haut, les vêtements et leur "verticalité", les ustensiles de cuisines...
Très bien vu et bien réalisé.

I like this kind of daily life scene ... no pretences here just real life. I purposely retained my cheap Kodak point and shoot camera specifically to capture local market scenes ... I won't be so worried if it get snatched :) You were brave in taking this photo alright. Well captured and pretty good image quality considering it is scanned. Well done! tfs

I love the muted colours here. Probably because it was taken from a slide. Digital photography still has a way to go in my opinion.

what i learn from past photography experience that never ask a permission for taking picture ,just do it(ya i know after effect can be desaster:)) but it always worked for me..
once again you showed us typical daily life scene and very responsible note..

Je ne sais pas pourquoi je n'allais pas ouvrir cette vignette, et puis j'ai changé d'avis... fort heureusement - on a souvent tort de nous fier aux vignettes... c'est une très belle scène que tu nous offres - et la palette de couleurs fort interessante - bravo -

je t'envie d'avoir pu voyager au Pakistan. C'est une de mes destinations rêvées d'aujourd'hui, un rêve écorné, inaccessible... Sur ta photo, c'est les voiles colorés des femmes qui m'attirent, le mouvement de la rue, l'activité dont j'aimerais entendre les sons... Les tons bien saturés des façades sont chouettes aussi.
En tous cas, bravo d'avoir bravé ta peur pour prendre la photo... C'est ma préférée des trois dans ta trilogie Pakistan.
