[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Here is another photo that was taken before sunset at Fairy Meadows camp, which is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. This photo is connected with funny story - I was wondering around the village and became the main object of attention of local boys. They have been following me everywhere I went. They watched me with great interest how I got to these strange positions to get the best picture from the best angle. At some point one of them wanted to become a photographer and I've borrowed him my camera. Suddenly I had many boys around me and when they thought that the picture is being taken I was kissed by several 6-13 years old boys. I thought it was really funny but had to find something that would take their attention away from trying to kiss me. As I had an idea to take photo with circles in the water, I tried to explain them that I need them to bring some medium size stones and to through them into the water. As they hardly spoke any English, I had to show them first. Luckily they thought it is great fun and went to find some stones. Once they came back, they started to throw stones into the water all at once, so I had to gently ask them, that I need only one stone at a time after the water got quite again. At the end, they all stood in the queue and all have been so happy to help me create wonderful photos.

The mountain in the picture is Nanga parbat (also known as Nangaparbat Peak or Diamir) is the 9th highest mountain on Earth and the 2nd highest in Pakistan. Nanga Parbat has tremendous vertical relief over local terrain in all directions. To the south, Nanga Parbat boasts what is often referred to as the highest mountain face in the world: the Rupal Face rises an incredible 4,600 m (15,000 feet) above its base. To the north, the complex, somewhat more gently sloped Rakhiot Flank rises 7,000 m (22,966 feet) from the Indus River valley to the summit in just 27 km, one of the 10 greatest elevation gains in so short a distance on Earth. Nanga Parbat is the fastest growing mountain on Earth and it is still growing about 7mm a year (but dont ask me how they measure it!)

Halo Lucie, I am browsing your portfolio, you have great and marvelous pictures
the landscape is beautiful and you captured very nicely
I like the ripple of water there

Hi Lucie
Wonderful picture with great colours and very gorgeous reflections.
Magnificent sharpness and depth
TFS and my best wishes
Aires

Hallo Lucie,
Beautiful, what a view, what a spectacular site. No where in the world look mountains so impressive as in the Himalayas. And the Namga Parbat is indeed a giant, looks very impressive seeing it from here.
I suppose you dropped a stone in the water to get this effect, i like that ;-)
The grassland perhaps a bit dark, you could put some more detail in to that by opening the shadows but this is also not that bad either.
Regards, Henk

Grat photo.
The reflections and the circles in the water are excellent, the colors and the sharpness are perfect and the POV is very good.
Congratulations!!!
Kostas.

As always, this one is equally stunning as your other posts depicting beautiful landscapes from the Northern region of "Pakistan administered Kashmir" ...... the way some folks would like to put it. Wish I could also go there someday...
But Lucie, a great photo and an interesting note.

Lucie,
Great composition here with the reflection and splash. The lighting and colors are wonderful with great contrast created by the areas of sun and shadow. The reflection adds nice balance and depth to the photo.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Lucie,
What a superb landscape ! The place seems to be so quiet and so pure... So funny is the story of your "organisation" of the ripples on the water. It was a very good idea, first to give more interest to the foreground and as well to avoid the boy's rush ;-)
Have a nice day.
Christian

Excellent photo - superb composition, full of interest.

Brian

I love this idea Lucie. The picture turned out cool and it has an interesting story behind it. The first one is still my favorite though because I like the bigger ripples.
Take care,
Ryan

Hi Lucie, Stunning image with an excellent dof, lovely colours and that hint of cloud formation on the peek is perfect, very nice work congrats, Rick :)

Cute story to go with this beautiful picture! Such an amazing place and well captured here!

Lucie,
what a marvelous story to go along with this image showing Nanga Parbat twice. Once as a reflection with the circles in the water and the other in real with the clouds also formed in circles. I wonder about the wind patterns at the top able to form this unique formation. The same that I got to see at Mt Rainier and had some spetacular 2 hours seeing ongoing metamorphosis. Not having a whole bunch of boys surrounding me, but only my two daughters and didn't get distracted during the shooting of pictures ... ;-)
Regards, Peter

Hi Lucie,
Wow wow wow!!! Awesome composition and exposure. It's always very difficult to make good shots with Nanga Parbat due to high contrast but you managed perfectly.
The ripples in the water are a very good creative idea.
Regards,
Pierre

What a funny story! This is the kind of thing that I like to see in the notes, not some dry facts and history. Great photo too, with the beautiful mountain and the reflection witht he circle of waves. Wonderful idea with a great result. Superb work!

Wonderful composition Lucie

Stunning! What a great idea with the circles! I gotta go to this place. What is the nearest town, did you trek in the area at all?

This is a photo that might have benefitted from the HDR treatment though, because the trees in the centre there really need a bit more exposure to bring them out of the shadows a bit.
