Photographer’s Note
When I was exploring the Caray river I saw this scene. A mother with son collecting stones from the river corner. They put these in old rice bags. About 50 m behind me was the husband with another son building a bamboo raft to transport these stones. They use it furter upstream to build a wall to prevent that the river, after heavy rains, washing their land and house away. On Biliran are most rivers still meander. That means the streams are not controled like in Europe.
