Photographer's Note
Jeepneys are the most popular transportation in the Philippines. And I like it too because if you go with these taxis here you could feel a breathe of the way of live, you could be part of the very interesting culture and learn about the religion of the people.
from Wikipedia:
They were originally made from US military jeeps left over from World War II and are well known for their flamboyant decoration and crowded seating. They have also become a symbol of Philippine culture. When American troops began to leave the Philippines at the end of World War II, hundreds of surplus jeeps were sold or given to local Filipinos. Locals stripped down the jeeps to accommodate several passengers, added metal roofs for shade, and decorated the vehicles with vibrant colors and bright chrome hood ornaments.
The jeepney rapidly emerged as a popular and creative way to reestablish inexpensive public transportation, which had been virtually destroyed during World War II. Recognizing the widespread use of these vehicles, the Philippine government began to place restrictions on their use. Drivers now must have specialized licenses, regular routes, and reasonably fixed fares.

Hallo Achim,

Bien vu !

Hi Achim,
Wow, what a neat shot of these most unusual conveyances. The locals obviously take pride in their vehicles and must not mind spending a few bucks on fancy paint and decorations. Great colors and very intricate details here. I really appreciate your explanatory note - great work and thanks for sharing. Gerald

Bonjour, mon ami Achim,

Hi Achim
When I was in Philippines in the 80's,sometimes I had to travel on the roof of the jeepney (on the dusty roads) even more colorful at the time.
Good exposure, colors and an interesting note.

Hi Achim,
I had never heard of this jeepney phenomenon before. It's great to see things being reused, reworked and preserved like this in our throw-away world of today. I really wish things were built to last like this now. Great shot - excellent sharpness.
