Photographer's Note

Ivan III, also known as Ivan the Great, was Great Prince of Moscow Princedom in 1440-1505. He was called "gatherer of Russian lands", as he united all 7 separated Great Princedoms under the rule of Moscow; he was victorious in several important wars; even more important for him, that he married Sophia Paleolog, nephew of last Byzantium Empire, and thus inherited heraldry and ideology of Byzantium Empire. Conception of Russia as a "Third Rome" appeared during his reigh.
In the last year of his life he started to built cathedral in Moscow Kremlin. Italian architect Bon Fryazin created 81-meters high bell-tower; for a long time it was highest building in Moscow. 54 bells are on this tower, oldest one made in 1501.
Oh and, by the way - Ivan the Great is NOT Ivan the Terrible, Ivan the Terrible was his grandson. :)
