...In year 1314 Prince of Yaroslavl David son of Yaroslav founded the monastery near his capital. During this time in all Yaroslavl Princedom there were only one stone building, and all towns and fortresses were wooden, as Ancient Rus was a land of endless forests but quite few stonefields.
Yaroslavl was far and not very powerful Princedom, and stoneworks were rare thing here, unlike Vladimir or Novgorod or Moscow lands.
Monastery stayed wooden until XVII century when first stoneworks were made.
