Photographer’s Note
I discovered there were one or two images missing before I could consider my travelogue from our visit to St. Petersburg complete. And one was of course The State Hermitage Museum, housed on the banks of the river Neva in one of the finest palaces to be found anywhere. It is no exaggeration that even the Louvre has to make an effort to compete with the Hermitage. You can spend days discovering and studying new collections, and the entire museum is a work of art in itself. The grandeur of the place gives a small idea of the grandeur of the Russian czars. And hopefully this snapshot gives a small idea of the grandeur of the place. And this is just the corner of one small exhibition hall. It is the number of them - hundreds - that takes your breath away.
Resized and sharpened for the web.

I like the scale of the figures compared to the vast space of the room. It helps accentuate the grand nature of the gallery. I don't like the slight motion blur of the one figure, but you can't control the people!! Regardless, it is an interesting shot giving some insight on the Hermitage.

Hi Per. The Hermitage (as well as the rest of St Petersburg, I guess) is definitely a place I want to see - although my interior photo of the museum would probably have to be from the impressionists section, Cézanne being a particular favorite. An interesting scene in which the size of the people and the furniture seems to tell a lot of how vast and huge that whole building must be. A pity it's a bit unsharp, but the light and colors are nice and it is still detailed enough to convey the feel of the place. Well done, I can see why you wanted to have this in your travelogue.

Per, I like very much of art and extremely of oil paintings, it's very difficult for see the quality of paintings, but the colours are very nice. Indeed, I agree with noewhnl, a pity for the sharpness. But Per, the composition is very nice.
