Photographer’s Note

Keeping posting my shots on the small theme "Egyptian Pyramids out of Egypt" (see the 1st and 3rd contributions), I offer the second shot, which depicts the sculptural composition having the name "Egyptian Pyramid". For Taganrog’s citizens and tourists it is the most favorite street sculpture representing all animal-personages of a famous story written by the well-known Russian writer Anton Chekhov, who was born in that sea-side city. Those personages are: Havronya Ivanovna the pig, Fyodor Timofeyitch the cat, Ivan Ivanovich the gander (they are performing the circus trick “Egyptian Pyramid”) and Kashtanka the dog, its name being the title of the story. You can read the full text of this story on www.readprint.com, but there are no illustrations there. I hope that my shot helps to fill up this gap. For more visual information and for polishing Russian language knowledge the cartoon movies “Kashtanka” (1952: parts 1, 2, 3 and 2004: parts 1, 2) can be used.
