Photographer’s Note

Another belated shot of the Angara River flowing through the East Siberian city of Irkutsk. There's even a guy in black shorts who's just had a swim in the river, & is drying off on the riverbank at right.

"The Angara River (Russian: Ангара́) is a 1,779 kilometers (1,105 mi) long river in Irkutsk Oblast (Province or State) and Krasnoyarsk Krai, south-east Siberia, Russia. It is the only river flowing out of Lake Baikal, and is a headwater of the Yenisei River.

Leaving Lake Baikal near the settlement of Listvyanka (at 51°52′01″N 104°49′05″E / 51.867°N 104.818°E / 51.867; 104.818), the Angara flows north past the Irkutsk Oblast's cities of Irkutsk, Angarsk, Bratsk, and Ust-Ilimsk. It then turns west, enters the Krasnoyarsk Krai, and falls into the Yenisei near Strelka (at 58°06′07″N 92°59′28″E / 58.102°N 92.991°E / 58.102; 92.991, 40 km south-east of Lesosibirsk)."

Il n'y a d'homme plus complet que celui qui a beaucoup voyagé, qui a changé vingt fois la forme de sa pensée et de sa vie.
Je suppose que vous voyagez pour vos affaires. Merci de nous faire partager vos découvertes d'une aussi belle façon.
Une très intéressante image venant compléter déjà une collection importante.

An image of Siberia with the appearance of low latitudes! There's even a man in shorts next to river. Excellent POV on the bend of the river, very beautiful colors, great light and good reflections.

Hi Chris.
This is a nice view. I was a bit surprised when I saw it was in Siberia, because I use to think it's cold there. So this photo tells me it's actually summer there too. Nice chosen POV, and great colours.

A fine perspective along the river captured under a good light. I like the contrast between the two building types on the right; one ultra modern and the other more art-deco style. Very good colours and clarity. Have a good weekend.

Hi Chris,

The quality of the light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. The presence of the boats and of the man has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the buildings near the river. It is also leading my eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth to the composition. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris.
I remember passing through Irkutsk 34 years ago, on the Trans Siberian Railway. Unfortunately, it was dark. I remember well the endless forests and rough villages as we travelled across Siberia.
Nicely composed photo, and I did spot the bather before I read the note. Great exposure of the large area of white paint on the buildings - the modernistic and the old in juxtaposition.

Again Russia, a region where probably I won't ever go to! Well, that's quite interesting: the architecture, the vegetation, the boats, the river and even someone who's probably sunbathing in the banks!
Sharpness, exposure, dof, pov, colors and composition are all excellent and I really like it a lot!

Fine diagonal created by the River in deep blue colour. The highrise building in the Bg pulls the eye. Very balanced compo with the barges on the river. Fine work
