Photographer's Note

Red Square in Moscow with the world-famous GUM department store on the left, the exuberant St. Basil's Cathedral (back left), followed by Lenin's mausoleum, which was designed by Alexei Shchusev in 1924, and then the Kremlin itself.

It is a rare shot being so deserted without tourists. The square had been closed pending a holiday parade. The two pigeons seem to put the vastness into perspective.
