je ne connaissais pas ce sport là...les couleurs dans le ciel gris tranchent biens, les differents gris et blancs du lac glacé donne une merveilleuse impression d'infini...

I saw a similar view in Oregon last summer, but with the people sailing on the water. I never imagined that people would do that also on ice. You must be pretty desperate to go out in this cold to expose yourself to the wind and sail and eventually fall on the hard ground. Nothing for me!
teh inclusion of the two people in the foreground is a good one and provides a good sense of depth to this image.

Hi Dan,
A fascinating cultural/travel photograph! You couldn't get my out flying a kite or ice sailing in this weather with a whip! I guess that the Russians have to get out in this weather to maintain their sanity. Your composition is outstanding! The grey textures, and layers of the ice add some beautiful patterns to your photo also. This is a marvelous photograph and I believe that the reason that this is so underrated is that people are frozen stiff when they look at this bizarre scene. This is a vastly underrated image of yours! An amazing and atypical photograph!

Hello Dan,

What a superb shot from Saint Petersburg frozen over! You've captured an ephemeral configuration made by the kites, I imagine they can be used in propelling the skaters across the ice. The young woman seen in the foreground adds an excellent compositional touch.
