Photographer's Note
"White Tigers are magnificent creatures that possess an amazing combination of spectacular beauty and impressing power. Bengal tigers, as they are sometimes called, have blue eyes, pink nose, and creamy white fur covered with stripes of a chocolate color.
White tiger males range in length between 8.8 and 10.2 feet. They weigh between 419 and 569 pounds on the average. Females are smaller, and range in length from 7.11 to 8.7 feet, weighing around 350 pounds.
White tigers are very rare animals. They are seen only in zoos nowadays. These animals are sometimes mistakenly considered to be an albino species of tiger. However, it is not true to fact. White tigers occur when both tigers that mate carry the gene for white coloring. A White tiger's tail reaches the length of 3 to 4 feet"

Snapped this with a Canon 350d borrowed from a friend for my zoo trip. There was a Tamron 70 - 300mm lens on it, i think.
Cropped, resized some brightness and contrast adjustment.

Well I'm glad you used a long lens for this picture. I would hate to see anyone getting too close to such a beautiful, yet deadly animal. Very good perspective of the tiger sitting against an OOF background. I like the cosntrast of colors and sharpness you achieved with this picture. The note is also very informative. Very good work and thanks for sharing :-)

Belíssima foto deste animal raro. O enquadramento está excelente em vista da dificuldade de conseguir-se uma foto destas. Parabéns !!

hello! i'm quite new to photography so i really can't claim to be an expert.i only comment based on how i feel about the photo and nothing really technical as i'm still familiarizing myself with the fundamentals. but i couldn't help comment about the background. i like the sharpness itself of the tiger, but somehow, i feel the background is not as soft as it should be.actually, i think its still a little bit sharp especially the leaves on the right and upon close inspection, it looks like a canvas similar to the ones used in paintings. i wonder why it seems grainy? i know the camera you used can make the background a lot softer than that to the point you can't almost distinguish it. I've never used a 300 mm lens. Can I ask if the background was originally as sharp as the tiger and you blurred it a little? i would have preferred a softer background making the tiger stand out more. right now it seems to me the tiger is a little 2-D but of course, that's just my opinion.=)
