Photographer’s Note

Like most places on the planet the establishment is trying as hard as they can to turn everyone into thoughtless buying automatons. South Korea is not different; no matter the night I never saw this area deserted or even lighter in traffic, the exception was a couple of holidays where they all travel to their homes. This was in the early evening but other than the drunks wandering the street it could easily have been 2AM.

Despite it being dark out you have captured all the brightly lit signs. I can almost feel the bustle of the market. The people are shot naturally; no posing here.

Exotic place. despite the night, very crowded, like in Asia. very colourful photo, one can feel the mass of goods and people.

Hello Greg,
From the pedestrians we can see that this is somewhere in Asia, but shopping streets in large cities tend to look more or less the same, regardless of the geography. Even Tirana, Albania, partly looks like this nowadays!
But you have captured the hustle and bustle very well with impressively good light and sharpness.

Your night scene is nicely sharp and no evidence of noise which can sometimes happen with my D200.
What I like most has been your abilty to capture the vibrance of the area. I think your inclusion of the merchandise as well as the shoppers and shops was a good idea.

An incredibly clear photo for being shot at night!
not easy to select a coherent scene with such a crowd but actually you managed to achieve it quite well.
The focus is on those two girls at the center and all the rest seems like a crown to them. An intriguing scene! Superb light management and DOF.

Hello,

Nice night street shot. There was a lot of light to get this camera setting at 400iso. The result is clean with a low level of noise making the photo smart to look.
The photo has a good readibility with the direct look of the 2 girls in foreground giving a kind of anchor in the composition.
