Photographer’s Note
I'm surprised no-one else has ever uploaded anything from this famous temple in Korea. These 'jangseung' or guardian totem poles are the tallest I've ever seen. The text also appears to be Chinese, rather than Korean. There's a fountain in the distance.
I've used a 28mm lens, so there is some lens barrel distortion. This pattern was used / | \ so that the centre line is level.
"A 'jangseung' or village guardian is a Korean totem pole usually made of wood. Jangseungs were traditionally placed at the edges of villages to mark for village boundaries and frighten away demons. They were also worshipped as village tutelary deities.
In the southern regions of Jeolla, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang, jangseungs are also referred to as beopsu or beoksu, a variation of boksa (복사/卜師), meaning a male shaman.
In the Jeolla region, jangseungs are often made of stone bearing some resemblance to the dolhareubangs of Jeju Island."

Hi Chris
Great pov to get the symetry here, with the totems and this fine blue sky over them I would have told British Columbia at once, not Korea !
Have a nice day JY

Interesting similarity with the Native American/Canadian totem poles. Well composed image with the inclusion of the graphic design on the ground, leading us to the path and on through the image. Great polarised sky.

Hi Chris,
The graphical design in the foreground leads our eyes along the path toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. The totems and the lamposts are framing well the path. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris,
At first glance I though this was a shot from the Northwest coast of North America because these lovely sculptures so resemble the totem art of the Pacific coast.
The Lovely ceramics makes a beautiful lead in to this scene of great depth and clarity.

Hello Chris,
These are two photos in one. The geometric patterns in the temple floor offers a dramatic counterpoint to the beauty of nature in the background. The two tall carvings on the colossal posts reminded me of some of the totem pole shots you posted from the Pacific Northwest just a fews months ago.
Warm regards from Virginia,
Bulent
