Dumujin Harbour II Photo

Photographer’s Note

Taken late in the evening, with the setting sun at left. I liked the tranquil water in the harbour the repetition of the fishing boats, and the reflections. North Korea is 12 km away, & just discernible in the distance. Not sure whether to leave the birds in or not.

Dumujin (두무진) is an area on the west side of Baengnyeong-do along the ocean, often visited for its beautiful natural cliffs. Dumujin is technicially a military area and people have to submit ID before entering. The cliffs themselves are quite high and are eroded by the water; they resemble hoodoos somewhat but are much larger. The total area of Dumujin is 4,500,000 m2." (Source Galbijim) Note I did NOT have to submit ID, once on the island.

Hello Chris,

I like the forground, these is wonderful, as well as colour as composition.
Also the rocks to the rightside care for an attractive picture.
A pity of the white sky, we can North Korea not see.
Nice composition, very nice presentation.

i like the reflections in the water and the pruple sunset color at the background. everything looks sharp in the photo. the flying bird is a plus of this photo! well done!

Hello Chris,
I like the delicate pink tones in the sky, which bring a particular mood to this tranquil scene. Good point of view offering some interesting contrasts between lined up fishing boats and the lovely headland in the background. Very good colours and clarity. I don't mind the birds; they contribute to the atmosphere.

Hi Chris,

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth to the photo. It bis also showing the details and colors of the boats. The light of the sunset has a good effect on the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

I'm fond of harbours... and this one is really peculiar. They left the natural setting building only small banks.
The photo is splendid... in the original sense, i.e. full of light and the row of fisherman boats creates a very fine and interesting composition. Two things I like most: the wonderful reflections in the water and the changing colour of it in the distance, plus that sparkling green hill to the right.
Very pleasant.
