Merhaba Sayın Hocam,
I can say only "SPLENDID"
Sizin gibi değerli Büyük Üstadımız Prof. Dr. Sabit KALFAGİL
"FOTOGRAF ALT YAZI ISTEMEZ" der.
"PHOTOGRAPHS DON'T NEED SUBTITLES"

You're right regarding the digital quality of the picture, Izzet. However, this one is not about this, but the quality if documentary with reporter like approach; and there you really excelled my friend. Your image compared to nowadays Seoulian quality of life speaks volumes!!!

Hi Izzet,
This is perhaps one of the oldest pictures I have seen on this site! The quality is not the point here, the fact that it has survived five decades is in itself an achievment. This is more like reportage style photography, very impressive.
With Greetings from India

There is an element of quiet sacrifice, resolve, and playfulness in this photo of the ravages of war that's searing as well as uplifting. Thanks for posting these photos from such a long time ago. These photos are taking TE to a dizzying height.

It is awe-inspiring to be able to get a look at your vintage photos from Asia, Izzet, and I sincerely appreciate that you are sharing them. "Digital quality" isn't everything, and I totally agree with you that this one speaks volumes as a historical account of the circumstances in Korea after the war in the mid-1950s. I actually find the composition to be very good, with a staggered arrangement of the people in the frame who are busy with different activities. The eye contact with the girl at the right is a nice detail. Bravo my friend.

Izzet: these are definitely some of the more germane uploads, historically and contextually, lately on TE. It's a fine door into a museum of your offering. Looking forward to more. best, c

Hello Izzet Bey,
The photo is indeed not sharp, and not perfect, but the way it tells the story, and the wonderfull contrast and B&W, gives it an air of photoreportage, which is unique. The Korean war, finished in 1953. The fact that you were so closely addicted to photography, back then, and still carry on, to become one of the world's great, makes you my idol no.1.
Best personal regards. Salvator.

More precious documents from your vault, Izzet. Just as much as the Tokyo pics, this one speaks loudly to us through the years... A devastated nation, torn by war, about to pick itself up from the rubble.
Great stuff!
Amicalement,
Francis

This photo moistens at my eyes. We were so poor and were desperate after the war.
Frankly I was also selling water like the boy in the picture, carrying an A frame on my back, when I was a kid.

Hello Izzet
Just spotted this looking through your Korean portfoilio. It isn't tact sharp or 'technically' pleasant to look at...but somehow I find this a very appealing picture. It seems that there's a slight pan going on with good sharpness on the child in centre...and it's so nicely framed with the smiling girl on the right. Details are also wonderful, in particular the boy on his sister's back starring at the other child. in actual fact this reminds me of what I saw in Cambodia last year...simply amazing documentary.
Cheers
