Photographer’s Note
Children of fishermen on Mannar Peninsula, NW Sri Lanka.
Mannar is one of the areas of the country hardest hit by the war. Fortunately, it was much less affected by the Tsunami than other coastal areas, although many fishermen lost their nets (large ones left out overnight at sea - not the small kind that one just tosses over the boat). At a value of about $200/net in a country where many earn that or less in a year, these were huge losses.

They're a cuople of lovely kids! All they've experienced is not visible at their faces (well, the face of a child on the left is hardly visible anyway:-)). They show joy and hapiness against all odds! Very nice picture indeed! Fantastic moment captured Dave!
Cheers!
