Photographer’s Note

I arrived at this fish market, in the neighbourhood of Negombo beach, when all the fishermen were almost sold out. There was only the sight of some leftovers and a very penetrating smell of a thousand fish long gone.
This man was cutting up some fish trash and I don’t think it was meant to be sold afterwards…

I post this image today as a homage to all victims of the tsunami, but especially to the fishermen of Sri Lanka who lost their life today one year ago; and to the fisherman who survived but whom fear obliged to look for other work znd to reconstruct their lives from scratch.
