Tuk-Tuk in Kandy, Sri Lanka

For years tuk-tuks have ruled the streets of Bankok and other south-eastern Asiatic countries. In recent years western cities start to discover the tuk-tuk as an alternative for taxis. Especially in crowded cities they have a lot of advantages. They are quite flexible, very maneuverable and can turn around in one lane of traffic with room to spare. But they also have a potential for being a sustainable better alternative for transport modes such as taxis.

In recent years cities in the western world discovered the qualities of the tuk-tuks. For instance in England (cities like Brighton) experimented we the tuk tuk. But it seems that the Netherlands is the first country in the western world where this mode of transport really has a potential to become a success. In cities such as Amsterdam, Zandvoort, the Hague and Rotterdam Tuk-Tuks can be found in the streets, mostly as taxis for shorter distances.

A good daily life shot of these tuk-tuks lined up for business. A very effective form of transport if, sometimes, a little noisy. Thanks for sharing.

Eine herrliche Straßenszene. Diese Art zu parken, ist wirklich bestechend ;-) Auch hier sieht man diese Dinger in letzter Zeit immer öfter. Interessant sind auch die vielen anderen Einzelheiten im Foto.

Hallo Achim,
I like very much this composition. It is so messy, I really like pictures like this and I take personally a lot of similar shots. Here you have plenty of typical elements like inscriptions in a foreign alphabet and those funny vehicles.
It could be a bit brighter and may be sharper but I know that travel shot are sometimes hard to control entirely.

A really excitings street scene from Sri Lanka. I like your inclusion of the man and I guess that this could be a very busy place even though it look very quiet at the moments. I really enjoy the tuk-tuks and would have like to see a close up of them. TFS and have nice day!

Looks like a slightly more laid back scene than an indian one of a similar nature... good colors and nice subject!

The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is allowing us to see the deatila nd colors of the tuk-tuk and of the different buildings. The light has a good effect on the colors. have a nice day.
