Photographer’s Note
Silkroad travels: Pamir
While climbing up the Kotali Akbaital we entered the Muzkol mountain range that holds a number of 6'000er peaks (e.g. "Muzkol", "Soviet Officers", "Zartosh"). We did'nt see any of the peaks from here, they were hidden behind a row of 5'000ers like this one.
I put the "Map:View" mark directly on top of the pass (4'655 m asl) . The picture was taken shortly before; you will notice the triangular glacier by zooming out.

Hallo Dieter!
Faszinierend ... hier vor allem die Farben! Die Wolkenschatten bringen etwas Dynamisches ins Bild. Durch die "verlinkten" Satellitenaufnahmen kann man Euer Vorankommen richtig gut verfolgen. Nochmals - faszinierend!
Und nochmals: Ein gesundes und zufriedenes 2008!

I like this complicated shadow of the cloud and the fact that both shaded and lightened areas display well. Really nice.
TFS and Happy New Year!

Hello Dietrich.
What a huge, breathtaking scene this is. I am somehow reminded of an elephant's foot; do you see what I mean.
A very sharp capture with great detail in the lower slopes and the foreground earth.
I did as you suggested and saw the glacier on the map. Amazing.
Best wishes for 2008.
Regards,
Andrew
