Photographer’s Note
In Central Asia, the round, flat, thick bread that is found everywhere is called nan; as in India, it is cooked in a tandoor, though the Central Asian versions are thicker, and have a ridge along the edge. Because of that ridge, nan can be used as a plate. Nan is always treated with respect; never turn it upside down, for example.
In the bazaars such as this one in Penjikent, sellers walk around with stacks of hot nan fresh from the tandoor - a great treat.
Technical: Some cropping. Also brushwork to cut down the blowout on the bread - nan can be very reflective.

Hello Daniel,
A plain but pleasant glimpse of daily life in Central Asia. I would have enjoyed seeing the woman's face, but still it's a nice shot with well handled light and good colours. A very typical Asian street scene.

Interesting daily life scene of the nan seller. They look a lot bigger than the Indian variety. It's quite a colourful image with lots going on in the background too.

Hello Dan,
An appetizing photo, and informative note. I am enjoying the photographic fruits of your trip to Central Asia very much. Now, if there were only some way to transmit a warm nan this way.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Dan,
It is quite fascinating to discover life in such remote countries and this is mostly why I like TE, also central Asia is a region I find quite appealing, you show here a nice market scene but had challenging light conditions and as a result most of your image is in the shade.
Have a nice day JY
