Photographer’s Note
Silk road travel:
This is not the Silk road and never was but the Wakhan valley road, formed by the Panj river (that upstream changes its name into Wakhan). The picture has been taken between Ishkashim and Namadgut Poyon. The valley plain is formed by giant gravel deltas. On such deltas agriculture is limited to pasturing. The foothills to the left hide two bigger mountains, the Mayakovskyi peak (6095 m alt.) and a barely visible unnamed peak of 6092 m. The altitude of the road is about 2600 m alt.
I had to process the JPG picture in PS: contrast enhancing, straightening, cropping, size reducing, sharpening.

Hallo Dieter,
ich finde das Bild sehr gut. Besonders nett finde ich die Kuh, welche dir entgegen kommt. Sie scheint mir kleiner als die europäischen Kühe. Oder scheint das nur so?
Herzliche Grüße aus Westfalen,
Roland
Übrigens mein Flug ist gebucht für den 1. Mai.

Hello,
an interesting photo - a random encounter, so it seems, with pleasantly green fields behind on the valley floor contrasting with the dry, barren hills in the background. Sharpness is appropriate and the colours are good. Somewhat desolate atmosphere from a country seldom seen...
Best regards, Kristof
