Photographer’s Note
Silkroad travels: Wakhan
I realize I did'nt show a Wakhan village yet. Here is one, Vichkut, the place were we were invited into a house (see last picture). The water is carried from the mountains in irrigation channels. Some village people are responsible for daily checking the waterflow into the fields, gardens and mills by activating levers. The channels are the source of drinking water but at the same time they serve as sewers. The Aga Khan foundation, the European Union and Switzerland are helping to keep the drinking and the sewage water separate.
In the workshop area I add a picture from inside a home.

Hallo Dieter!

Now this is an interesting village. With this tiny river flowing through. The buildings are so low to the ground. I am surprised and impressed by all the trees around this area.
As you may find my Yemen gallery interesting, I find your Central Asia gallery equally interesting.
Keep posting!!!
Regards,
David
