Silkroad travels: Pamir
On our way to Alichur we encountered the dried lake bed. The Pamir plateau (around 4000 m alt.) has been largely shaped by glaciers. But the plains on the picture presumably owe their origin to liquid water.
Some plants grow in cushions like in the European high alpine zone. In the workshop section I show a few examples here and here

Hallo Dietrich,
solche Gegenden faszinieren mich. Muss für Dich als Biologe auch ein kleines Paradies sein. Schade dass das am thumbail nicht so rauskommt, so schauen nur wenige Leute rein. Danke auch für die Notiz und Deine Workshop Photos.
