The Banharn-Chaemsai Tower;an iconic symbol of Suphan Buri offers an imposing sight from a distance regardless of whichever direction it is approached by visitors. A circular citadel 123.25 meters high on a 30-meter-wide base, this four-storey building is equipped with an elevator as well as a spiral staircase.
Tourists can seek souvenirs in a corner shop on the ground floor .Snacks and beverages are available on the second floor, which also offers vantage points for taking in the panoramic views. On the third floor, one finds more souvenirs and viewing points. However, for the most scenic views of Suphan Buri, the fourth floor is recommended. Tourists can enjoy some truly magnificent sights of Suphan Buri landmarks through the fixed binoculars on this floor
Formerly a provincial penitentiary, it was turned into a public park at the suggestion of former Prime Minister Banharn Silapa-acha. Funded by the Banharn-Chaemsai Foundation, the park was built with the citadel in a fashion similar to those in other countries to honor Her Majesty the Queen’s 60th birthday. |
