Travels on the Silk Road:
Turkmenistan has gotten into the news right now. So I decided to upload some pictures of Turkmenistan.
These women change money on te Silk Road in style: you are invited to chay, some sweets and smalltalk before negotiations. The picture is from Jalkim near the Amu Darya river (Oxus for the history minded), the lifeline of the country. Enjoy!

Dear Dietrich,
Without your comment I'd never guess that this is money exchange. It looks very appealing - a cup of tea and chat with friendly looking women and a man. Do they do it legally or is it a local practice due to lack of money exchange in this area?
