Photographer's Note

From the mind of a gifted designer comes a creation that gives visual pleasure to thousands who come and kneel here. I can only marvel at the beauty and charm of this wonderfully ornate human made structures. Not exactly a shadows image, more just light and shade of another image from my day out in Bukhara.

This is the architectural detail of one of the most most photogenic monuments and the most prestigious educational centre for many centuries in Bukhara - the Ulugbeg Madrassah built in 1417, an ancient Islamic school where the Koran, science, astronomy were taught for many centuries. Ibn Sina or latinized Avicenna, one of the greatest scientists, was born in this city in 989 AD.
