Photographer’s Note

View from Kalyan Minaret on the 16th-century Kalyan Mosque and, in the back, the walls of the Ark Citadel. Kalyan Mosque was built on the site of an earlier mosque and during the Soviet times it was used as a warehouse - it reopened as a working mosque in 1991. Its roof, as photo shows, consists of 288 domes.
