Photographer’s Note

The Place
This is a snapshot of the shores of the Mekong delta almost 11 years ago, taken from a boat in movement.

Background
The tourism industry was just flourishing in the 90’s in Vietnam, and kids loved to see foreigners passing by their villages.
With this photo, which I consider very “cute” albeit not of very high quality, I want to bid farewell 2007, which was one of the best years of my life (why?, just read my intro… I discovered TE and I became father!!), and also to salute all TE members and wish you all the best for 2008.
Happy New Year!!!
I am posting this photo 2 hours before New Year at +8GMT.
Yes, I am at home, with wife and daughter … and dog!

Your picture gives a nice feeling over this moment...very nice. I am leaving in 6 weeks to Vietnam. Making these kind of picture would be nice, those kids are very lovely.

This is not one of your best photos, technically, as you have stated, but this is a lovely shot of these sweet kids and a perfect farewell photo for 2007. I love the warmth and kindness expressed by the villagers. Very nice work!

Hello Jorge,

This is a great photo with a well chosen title! The composition is on the thirds, especially the banana tree (or is it something else) on the right side. The quality is very good for a picture taken from a boat and the colors look good too. I think it must have been great to visit Vietnam before the tourism era. Thank you!
