Photographer’s Note
The Khai Dinh King (1885-1925) is the 12th Emperor of Nguyen Dynasty. He came to the throne in 1916, and his power period lasted to 1925.
He had many typical construction such as Kien Trung Temple, An Dinh Palace,Truong An Gate, Hien Nhon Gate, Chuong Duc Gate and the most important is Ung Lang called Khai Dinh Tomb.
Khai Dinh Tomb construction started on Sep,04th 1920 and lasted during the period of eleven years.
The Khai Dinh Tomb is not big compare to other previous one, it is about 117m x 48.50 m, but it was extremely cost of time and labor and finance.
Some of luxury materials like steel, cement, tile, ceramic, color glass were imported from France, China and Japan.
With the interference of the West - East culture and his characteristic we can feel many typical architecture in this tomb such as: Hinduism, Buddhism, Roman and Gothique…
