Photographer’s Note
The largest three exporting countries of rice are Thailand (26% of world exports), Vietnam (15%), and the United States (11%).
In March to May 2008, the price of rice rose greatly due to a rice shortage. In late April 2008, it was twice the price that it was seven months earlier.
Rice culture is one of the most labour intensive and there is a proverbial saying in Japan stating: "The farmer spends eighty-eight efforts on rice from planting to crop." This teaches the sense of gratitude for the farmer and for rice itself.

Hi Andre,
It's a green dream ;o) I always find green such a calming colour and here your image seems so peaceful filled with it. Great how you have the person walking through the fields seeming so relaxed even though the load is heavy I am sure. He is well placed in the composition with plenty of space to move into. Nice sharpness and texture.

ciao Andre,
so you visited viet nam too?? I was also impressed by this old fashioned agriculture and hard work.
I was able to catch a similar scene by a running bus I was travelling on.
as far as your pic is concerned, I like the choice to avoid showing the man's face....just to have it as a universal symbol for hard working. the green is so vivid....thus creating a pleasant contrast with the protagonist
well done

Hello Andre,
I'm really happy to discover your splendid gallery.
Every image that you post is very interesting and exciting. I like a lot this composition with the man working in such a splendid green field, and perfectly placed on the right of the scene.
Congratulation and TFS.
Friendly regards

Does this mean you have recovered the images on your 'dead' HD??
Excellent daily life image - the growing of rice in SE Asia is so important for their survival. Good use of the zoom to allow the farmer and his load to fill a major portion of the frame. Well composed so he has plenty of space to walk into. We can see the muscles in his forearm working to balance his load, and the detail of every blade of rice plant.

Jolie compo!
Amicalement,
Marianne
