This woman caught my attention while she was waiting for customers in front of her food stall instead of behind it. She stood there for as long as I stayed there, resting from the climb up to the Perfume pagoda.
The sad thing was that all that time, no one came to buy food at her stall.
The somewhat envious look on her face and patrolling attitude is caused by a concrete built restaurant with a big terrace opposite that ‘steals’ her customers away. I admit that I was not very tempted to go there as they had dead and plucked cat (yes that’s right) hanging outside – as a vegetarian I was slightly disgusted.
But this woman also shows determination; she will break out from between her 2 poles and get there as well. She’ll show them, one day…

If you missed the previous post I also add
A visit to the perfume pagoda is very special. It starts with a tranquil boat ride along Yen River which really is part of the meditation as well.
The sound of the water as the rowing boat moves slowly along is very meditative and the environment is very special with its impressive rocks surrounding you – even if you are there on misty days as I was.
When you get out of the boat, you walk along an alley of restaurants before you start the pilgrimage of a 3 hours climb. The pagoda itself is situated on the flank of the hills. |

Dag Sabine,
Maar ja, the composition is good and a good DOF. Maybe she shouldnt be too central........
The expression in this woman is so powerfull !!....
well captured Sabine !
hugs
Alejandro
Very nice use of depth of field here, Sabine. The attention is all on that woman, who is also standing at attention. Nice subject and good eye!
an impressive post, Sabine. I love the depth of field, as the subject is well isolated from the background "noise". So colorful and wonderful. I love the well contrasted and saturated colors in this photo. Lovely shot. Thanks for posting.
