I captured this little girl rowing a little boat in the fishing village of Phan Thiet while on my way to the beach resort of Mui Ne.

The locals were using these round little fishing boats to criss-cross the channel between the larger fishing boats and the village. I posted a picture of the larger fishing boats here a while ago:

Anyway, I was particularly struck at how carefree and brave this little girl seemed to be. But in reality, this is a very common scene there and not a big deal.

Hello Douglas -

Nice daily life image but I find all of the boats in the background to be a bit distracting. I know this shot sets up the place and environment but I think a little more detail on the little girl and boat might have a bit more impact. Just my opinion though. Otherwise, this is a well exposed and composed image.

Excellent composition with the girl in her nutshell against the larger boats in the backdrop. The sharpness could be improved here.
I barely can imagine how she is able to maneuver this thing. Great documentatio of daily life in Vietnam.
