Halong Bay stands proud even at the face of the mist. It looks even more magical. You can see varied activities around but the place still looks serene and enthralling.

This shot is taken from a different angle and the only vertical format I have for this series. You can see a similar shot here. BTW, the colors are natural... no filters this time.

quite a different format indeed..it works fine too IMO. I'm really glad you decided to eventually take your camera with you Manny... this series of shots, although somehow similar, are all very impacting and exhale a sense of serenity as i already mentionned. i am not the least bored to see them again and again;-)

I like this vertical format, well suited as it guides us from the blured foreground to the boat silhouette. A great one, beautiful, very well composed and with perfect exposure. An almost monotone picture, a beautiful shot Manuel.

Nice silhouette & good dof use.

Dear Maunuel,
I am not sure about the out-of-focus foreground. I feel that it is so obviously out-of-focus ( and not simply soft focus )that it would be a better picture if this area was cropped out.

I love this series of yours with silhouette of a boat. The silhouette is great and the background is beautiful – again – but I think the foreground doesn´t work so well. It´s too dominant without interesting elements. So, I prefer the previous shots of this subject with horizontal format...

Wonderful picture and composition !
The fog here is amazing for your shot.
Congratulations

Very good this series including this vertical variation. for me the distant landscapes in the mist is essential for the total, so I think I prefer the horisontal format better.
But the composition is working well and including essential elements in the three vertical parts of the pix

Toujours à la recherche de l'émotion Manny, cette composition en est un parfait exemple. J'aime ces couleurs douces et magiques du petit matin où la brume nimbe l'arrière-plan.
Une réussite, comme toujours !
Always with the research of the Manny emotion, this composition is a perfect example.I like these soft and magic colors early morning when the fog nimbus background.
A success, like always!

"Knowing" the scenery from your previous shots, I think the horizontal format works better to do justice to its beauty. However I appreciate that you tried a variation with this vertical view, Manny. I also like to use foreground in my landscape pictures to try and build perspective and depth, and I think it works quite well here (except I would crop a bit from the bottom so that the lower third is about the same height as the layer with the mountains in the haze, and the middle layer with the boat bordered by the brown patch of gravel/earth below). The boat silhouette once more in is a distinctively interesting feature, and the mist gives it that magical mood again.

Indeed it is a different POV, and it has its magic. I like the misty fog adding to the mood. I way have cropped some of the bottom. Great work Manny!

I tend to agree with Olli about the need of horizontal format here, but still it's a great shot, like the other shots of this series. I like the shape of the BG island. Very well seen and captured, Manuel.

These images have been so magical that I think this one suffers a bit in comparison for a couple of reasons. There is simply too much in the foreground that is unfocused. I don't know that cropping would solve the problem since it would change the composition. I'm also not wild about the cropping at the left side. I would need to see the alternative, but my inclination would be to permit a sliver of water to appear at the stern of the boat. The top half to two-thirds are quite magical and I like the way you frame the image. The other version is one of my favorites.

very nice shot indeed, i like the silhouette and the mountain in the back

well done
