[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Just back from Vietnam, I'll start a new vietnamese serie with one of the most famous historical and cultural relic in Hanoi: the Temple of Literature, called Van Mieu in Vietnamese. Much of the six hectares of the Temple of Literature is occupied by gardens and a fishpond. The first two courtyards (out of six) are made of gardens with mature trees providing shady surroundings while the high temple walls help to subdue the constant noise of the streets surrounding the temple on three sides, making of this place one of the very few quiet places in Hanoi. Here the second courtyard with the Khue Van pavilion.

The "temple" was founded in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, and is dedicated to the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Six years later, Vietnam's first university was founded here to teach the children of royalty and aristocracy. The school continued until its functions were transferred by Emperor Gia Long to the new capital at Hue in 1802.

Bon retour.

Welcome Vincent,
we expect new serie from Vietnam, here's start I suppose. Interesting orient architecture, good note and quality of photo.
Gr., Aleksander

Hello Vincent. I like the clarity and sharpness of this image. The place is beautiful and interesting. Reading the note I realize the history if this place is long. Good exposure and perspective of this relic. Thanks.

Roberto

Hi Vincent,
The nice light caused beautiful saturated colors here. The sharpness causes an extra emphasis on the old texture, whereby the red of the tower appeals the eye. This Vietnamese series will be a joy to watch :)
Congrats and TFS,
Deniz

Hi Vincent,
This is a superb scene. The colours, details and POV are wonderful. I like it. Excellent work!
Best regards.

Hi Vincent. I remember this spot fondly and yes, it is a quiet place where the mind can hear itself. Nicely composed as it presents a veriety of structural wonders and the profuse greenery. Well done. Regards. Klaudio.

Olá Vincent, interesting note and good composition of this peaceful and beautiful place, with the diagonal starting right on the corner and the red attractive Temple (or gate(?) with a curious architecture, protected by the trees, high above the ground.

Hi Vincent,
Good to see you back, hope you had a great trip. The red structure stands out from the surroundings, this place has a very distinct old world ambience about it.

Salut Vincent,
Bien revenue! :-)
You offer us a beautiful view of that charming place. The compo is very agreeable, with the lines of the walls giving much dynamism and the red of the small shrine(?) producing a nice contrast. I suspect that the weather wasn't on your side, but that didn't stop you from getting a well saturated image without sacrificing the realism.
Amitié, José.

Bonjour Vincent -

A very nice image in deed. I like the angular composition as the internal fencing forces the viewer to look at all of the components parts of the image. The exposure is spot and the sharpness is perfect. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Hi Vincent!
First of all,did you like Vietnam in comparison to the other asian countries you have been?I ask, because when I was there I was a bit dissappointed.Too loud and busy, but maybe I`ve been at the wrong places.I shortened my stay,to have more time in Laos.
Your image is very well composed with these diagonal of the bassin and the well contrasting red temple on the gate. The sharpness is amazing and there are many fine details to view.
Best regards,Leo
Btw.I`m planing my 7th Asia travel,7 weeks in december/january.I`ll start in Malaysia, then Cambodia and then I`ll spend most of the time in Myanmar, because I fell in love with this country.

Bonsoir Vincent,

Patrick

Hi Vincent
Nice capture of this interesting temple. Nice details. But... where are books? ;)

Salut Vincent,

Amicalement, Christian.

Welcome back Vincent
You start off your travelogue with a good shot, well composed with good use of perspective. The red of the gate provides a good splash of colour.
