Vietnam is a country of feminine charm (I am not saying this in a derogatory manner). The women there are as productive and mobile as the men. There are a lot of them in the tourism sector and certainly a lot of them in the streets.

I took this shot right after we had dinner in a restaurant in Hanoi. I was practicing my panning technique and I came across this interesting scene. No time to compose, I just shoot and shoot.

Experimental or not, you fill the frame with two diagonals in two different levels of distance, and both are relatively on focus while everything, but EVERYTHING, around is completely blurred. Maybe this is only an hasardous result coming from the fact that you took several shots and the probability that one of them would come out in a way which wasn't completely expected.

Anyway, the result is great.

I can notice how the motorcycles are rather modern compared to the incredible kind of "things with a motor on them" I saw there when I last visited Vietnam 12 years ago.

"progress" I guess... if we can call that evolution... Anyway, 4 women on motorcycles are certainly morerepresentative of women's mobility than the same 4 in Ao Dai riding bicycles.

Cheers

Great photo, and a great note. The movement you captured is just right. A fantastic insight into daily life there.

Yes, the fact that all four of them are in focus and everything else is moving really gives a special and interesting effect. If you look at the photo in a certain way it almos looks as 3D.
Great shot.

Great catch and very good frame, the panning is not bad at all, but the story is not the panning, you have got a great frame and great story in this frame, well done!!!

Very good use of blur & dof.

Panning very effective, and interesting note. Nice to see these experiments of yours.

I like this one pretty much. All is very well balanced in my opinion. The paning effect is very good, not to much, as the motion blur indeed. I also like your composition a lot (even if you had no time to compose), it reveals your ability to catch daily life scenes spontaneously. The two different "couples" and the overall effect comes out really great here. It's a very fine work Manuel.

Very good contribution in your 'moving' series. Even under the not the best light conditions you succeded with sharpness on the girls (of course...) ;-)

Very good shot ! I like the movement sensation Congratulations Manny !

Great panning Manuel!
I'm curious to see the next experiments, very interesting note too.

Those panning shots are hard to do with a single moving object, but two moving objects at the same time is a tour de force (I assume they had to be moving at the same speed). The facial expressions are excellent, and the parallel between the two bikes and their drivers very interesting. Great background too (with what I assume is a standing policeman).
Frank.

Excellent panning shot that motivates me to also give this technique a try soon. And the compo is excellent for the ad-hoc way in which you took this - an excellent double-diagonal of the women on the motorcycles, with the busy streetlife in the background delightfully blurry-looking. The ladies do not seem to prefer the same fashion style though ;-) Colors are very good, too. Very good, Manny.

I ove scooters, as a very effective vehicle, and also a very young one. This shot is very good thanks to the amazing motion blur and the very interesting background with the policemen and the street activity. very good job.

Very amusing and really charming view here, Manny! :-) I love how you managed everything around them to be so blurred - it makes them outstanding. Excellent shot!

I like your panning & the cropping makes the subjects seem speeding out of the frame . I don't think the lady in the front-right is a Vietnamese, very good chance she is a Filipino to me.
