Most people will recognize the karstic rock formation of the Ha Long bay. There is also another karstic rock formation, this one is on land and situates at Ninh Binh about 40km south of Ha Noi. Its strategic position has made it the chosen capital of the first Vietnamese dynasties; the Dinh and Le. It has been dubbed the "Inland Ha Long". The raise rock formation among the green rice field is breath taking. The people lives on the land and die on the land. It is customary to burry the dead right on the rice fields at the best location according to the rules of Feng Shui. You can spot sporadically the white tombs travelling through these sceneries.

Cropped at the bottom. I tried to mimic the chinese B&W painting, is it too dark?

Great shot and the B/W is very good and contributes a lot to the frame and to the mood. I love the layers at the background.

great shot! its not too dark, has a special mood. (IMO it's falling down a bit on the left side, but i might be wrong - i'm a bit too tired:) anyway i do really like it!

Very, very good composition. Even excellent composed. The scenery is unusual, at least to me. The B&W is just the perfect choice here. Very well cought and rendered Thien !

Interesting that you chose to include so little land and so much mountain in the composition: it makes it much more powerful and the B&W emphasizes that sense. Also, this is an original shot, for all those of us who are used to seeing Ha Long-type rocks surrounded by water.
Frank.

I like the typical chinese painting feel. Great work!

Wow..love this atmosphere made by the mist and the light levels Thien! The BW was a great choice. Very well done
