I like the way the foot look bigger than actually is. Your angle allow for this interesting view of the foot against the table. I can imagine this statue being well crafted and surrounded by beauty. Good coposition with good use of indoor light. Thanks Vincent.

Olá Vincent, very original compositions, with an excellent use of the shallow dof. This kind of atmospheres attract me very much and taoism/buddhism is the only philosophy of life that makes some connection with my inner soul. This holy foot has a strong impact here, but I might prefer the body, by the way it shows the whole space and its rich details. Great work with a very good note.

L'ambiance intérieure est très bien réussi. Il est charme et montre le silence et l'intimité necessaire pour la prière. Le pied à l'avant-plan est très bien capturé, la texture, les tonalités presque metalliques de la pierre, les reflections de la lumière... C'est tout beau! Merci bien.

I like the way you angled the foot close to the camera and low ... it emphasize the size of the foot. DOF is just enough ... the asian background is still clear enough for the viewer to associate the main subject. You've composed this well ... good work! tfs

I am enjoying your Vietnam series as I re-live our visit there in 02. Pre-TE and DSLRs all my shots are merely snaps so I enjoy seeing how I might have taken them with my present experience. I love this original composition as I know it's almost impossible to get this statue in one shot. The DOF and off-centred foot work very well.
I like the WS too but like you finding a preference is difficult.

C'est le pied cette photo ;-) OK elle est un peu facile celle la ! C'est dommage qu'il y a ce gros neon blanc au milieu qui attire l'oeil, et c'est pour cette raison que je prefere la photo en WS ou les deux plans sont tres bien differenties.

ta composition est simple, bien travaillée et avec un grand résultat dans l'exposition, la lumière et la profondeur de champ.
L'énorme pied de la statue de bronze, obscur et très bien défini, en contraste avec l'arrière-plan estompé crée un grand effet graphique, dans une image très agréable et créatrice.
La deuxième prise est aussi très bonne, il m'est difficile de me décider, mais je crois que la première a plus de force.

Hi Vincent,
I admire the careful way you did the compo, arranging every element very nicely and using that low perspective close to the foot. Then there is the dof, the amazing clarity and specially the distribution of light - on the foot toes, on the right part of the soil, on the bg... even that burnt out thin overture (window?) looks great.
Very well done!
I like the WS a lot also, but it isn't as impressive as this one.

Both pictures are excellent, but I agree with your choice for the original post. Very strong compo. which you would have taken with a very low POV (ground level?)with wonderful use of shallow DOF. The foot makes a very strong main subject. Very original..great work!

Hi Vincent,
I like them both, they both have different elements which are appealing. This one with the close up of the shiny toes is very nicely composed and the light is great. The other one with the body and face blurry and the interesting colourful detailed items in the foreground also makes for a very good and eye catching and interesting shot. But ultimately I have to say that I like the toes the best.

A very nice and very uncommon shot. Your chosen angle showing the table beyond shows the scale of this statue.

I prefer the view you showed as the other one does not show the statue ver well and your write-up is all about the statue of Vu.

Gros plan impressionnant, dommage qu'ici on ne puisse pas voir quelque chose qui pourrait nous aider à juger de l'échelle de ce pied géant !
(peut être que le résultat est qu'il apparaît d'autant plus énorme !)
