Here some contractors are deepening a channel for shipping or taking some raw materials for construction perhaps. This river caries a lot of silt so maybe removing a sandbank.

This is a great shot of real life: the kind of thing I look for on TE -- to learn more about the world as it is

Hello Murray,
Interesting capture of this strange effort. Good color and composition. I would crop the top a bit to get rid of the white mask. Regards,
Hakan

Hi Murray,
Excellent capture of the Mekong river!
An activity not usually seen.
It's very good the action displayed, as well as the composition used.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Interesting shot of the work that has to be done to keep this mighty river flowing smoothly. Well timed at an opportune moment as the load is lifted. You just forgot to crop the top after straightening; easily put right.
Kath

Hello Murray,

I love this shot for several reasons. It is well composed, capturing the fleeting moment when the scoop suddenly emerges from the water, it has excellent resolution and high fidelity in the colors. Aside from the technical assets, I am hard at work on a new book on Leonardo for the National Geographic. And I had been writing about the dredger that Leonardo had designed, among a myriad industrial tools.
Many thanks,
Bulent
