This is another shot I did in that early morning in Halong Bay, Vietnam.

Dawn signals a new day, a new beginning. As the morning sun peeped through the clouds, this fisherman and his wife were getting their catch ready for the market.

Life always provides us with a new beginning. When we encounter difficulties in life, we have two choices: to get entangled into its genuine or imagined complexities OR to get it over with and start off a new beginning.

I experimented on the filter in Photoshop CS. I combined the sepia and the orange filter for this shot. It is a beginning for me and I like the result. Tomorrow will be another beginning to experience new things.

This is for Fusun (bfly). I hope I am able to "paint" colors into your (our) world.

Great! it's dramatic! but, I think the foreground objects seem to be a lil bit distracting to me.. well, just a thought.. I like the drama between the fisherman and his wife!! good work!

I don't agree about the foreground objects. THey seem to be an integral part of the scene. Very nice shot.

Stop taking fabulous pictures...makes my lot look hopelessly dull in comparison - then again, perhaps they are! :-)

Well done Manuel,

Vic, Singapore, 24th June 2004

another aspect we had not yet seen of that early wake up call...it is quite different from your other shots nad quite interesting and nice too...

super well done... :)

For me, the objects make the originality of the photo here. Without them, it would be a nice photo, but this one has something more, which makes the difference.
It's extremely well composed and your experimentation on the colors is successful.
Well done, for me, congrats Manuel !

Very well done Manny! Great photo and a good insight into daily life there. Very well done.

Great composition, Manuel

Another great shot of every day life. I think the forground objects make the picture interesting but I would have prefered to see all of the stack of fish that is cropped on the right edge of the frame. I think including this would also reduce the empty left side a bit as well. Very good shot whatever.
I like the colours you have introduced.

I really like this. A beutiful range of colours. I love the way the lady is sharp and well illuminated and the boat more a silohuette. Excellent post processing and use of Digital filters.

I'm wondering if you could focus attention on the woman and boat by cropping just to the left of the boat and above the items in the foreground?

Very nice scene, nicely cought. The experiment works fine, it comes out very well, very moody. Superb composition very well balanced in my opinion. The light is wonderful and really well managed. Another great picture from you Manuel.

Wonderful light Manny !
Very well done.

Great for a movie, excellent for a telling a story & really excellent for creat a poem for this perfect & complimentary shot.
It's my humble opinion.
Sometimes I prefer to say not more about techniques in some shots(like it) & sometimes I think we say more about why a pic is great? for the others(like me as amateur)we must say why.
anyway, here I see a poetical shot with full of hope for life,Then it's normally that I like it alot & my feelling become boilling!

Good start of the day having this nice capture in the early morning. The mist and the setting brings back some memory of some place like this posted some time ago by you. Interesting use of the filters - resulting in a special colour setting

Wonderful early morning photograph Manuel, the fog and the sun are lovely, the fisher and are woman is hard working every day.

Hi Manny. This is good overall. Your post processing choices here are very nice and I believe your original exposure was very good as well. However, I feel you missed the mark on your composure a bit on this one. Everything seems crowded on the right side of the frame, while there is empty space on the left that doesn't add much for me. I am mostly bothered by how tightly cropped the stove (or whatever it is) on the right of the frame is, but I also wish the boat wasn't quite so centered. Overall Manny, this is appealing but I believe a different set up originally would have helped.

Merci

Very moody image! The overal tones are very interesting and create a nice atmosphere. About the composition I like it a lot because of the diagonal made by the boat, the woman and the objects on the beach. It really compensates for the almost centered position of the boat balancing the picture.

Excellent picture, very good colours pick and very good composition.

This has got to be the place of endless photo opportunities, Manny. The early morning light and color setting (well enhanced by your processing) creates a fine atmosphere in which this interesting scene with the two people and the boat unfolds. The left third of the frame is a bit empty-looking but otherwise the composition is really very nice. Good job, and let's see what you have in store tomorrow ;-)

Teh washed sky make this shot, Manuel, but the subjects and the still water are also well composed. Especially, I like your PP, which I find very interesting. Very good job.

I really like these kind of photographs too. Great work; what can I say more? Go on!

Manny,

I like how "three-dimensional" the picture seems -- I think it's the sharp lines of the person's hat that help make it stand out and give the feeling of space. I, too, like the muted colors and the fog/haze and gentle ripples on the water also add serenity to the image. I agree that the lower right is a bit cluttered, though I don't know if the overall "balance" is bad.

nice scene, i like that you included those baskets in the foreground, i wish those on the right weren't cropped. intersting compo with the person in the hat between backets. nice light. and the left side is a bit empty. anyway, it is an interesting picture

Excellent. A great subject and very well composed. It would make a very good large print :) The only small comments I have is that the sky is slightly blown out and it would have been nice to include a little more on the right hand side of the frame.

Beautiful combination of colours, your photo inhales the peace and the sweetness. I like the composition and baskets to the right do not disturb me because it is the daily work of these people.

Jolie combinaison de couleurs, votre photo respire le calme et la douceur. J'aime bien la composition et les paniers à droite ne me dérangent pas puisque c'est le travail quotidien de ces gens.

Like you said, Manuel: "Another beginning to experience new things."

Thanks.

Quite good but I agree the objects on the beach are distracting just crop these off.

Dear Manuel,
Are you for real? I am extremely happy to meet you. Thank you, thank you very much!!!
