A very inteersting POV, Manuel. The checker board catches the eye, although it is on the unfocused area. THis happens thanks to the excellent position of the board and the cigarette. THe well added noise is nice, too. Very well composed and processed.

I like the point of view over his shoulder and also his hands, as well as the ones of the man blurred in the background, that draw our attention to the board. Lovely tones with a wide range of greys. Doesn't seen like sepia to me but rather a duotoned image with purple tones (well..that's what shows on my screen).

you know how much i abhore cigarettes but this is a splendid and spot-on capture! i like the fact that you centered our attention on the cigarette and kept the chessboard in the BG... great compo and play on DOF! We miss your pics Manny, eventhough i know what you have to say about that;-))

Very nice daily life shot, Manny. I think the "noisy sepia" presentation works out quite well for this kind of scene, and the semi-shallow DOF is good to add interest and at the same time still be able to make out the details of the background. Well composed and cropped.

The hand with the smoking cigaret makes good main motif with the blurred game as a background - I can image the rest of the scenary around this place - you got af fine essential part - Thanks Manuel for sharing you nice experiment.

I think Manny, that you can safely say that you 'experimental shot' worked. This is just excellent. There are many 'chess' shots on TE, but this one is unique. Good DOF. Well framed.

How I've missed you here, Manny! This shot is nigh unto perfect. The shallow depth of field gives us just the right clues, and the b/w doesn't let anything intrude on the story here. Wow!

By the way, the game they are playing is Chinese Chess. It is very fun!
